An Open Letter To PKs (from a PK)

An Open Letter To PKs (from a PK):

It can be tricky sometimes navigating being a clergy kid (PK), but I was recently inspired by author and PK, Barnabas Piper, to answer his question: If you could tell a PK anything, what would it be? And here's what I'd say:

1) It's Okay, You're Not Perfect: Sometimes PKs can feel the pressure to always get it right, or be seen to be doing the right thing or acting perfectly. And it can be hard to not try and live up to these expectations. But I want to tell you something important; relax! You don't have to be perfect. There's only one guy who managed that and He's got your back :)

2) It's Great You're You! God made us all different, and the things you're interested in, are good at or just love to do - they're awesome! Sure it might not be ministry, and some people might think it should be, but God has something special planned for you and knows exactly where He wants you to be.

3) You're So Important: Just as you are. Not because you're a PK, but just because you are. I know you are so loved and valued - and you know what?! It doesn't matter if you don't have all the answers, or aren't quite sure if you fit in. You're valuable to God, your family, and your friends. Don't forget that :)

4) God Won't Leave You: I know, a lot changes when you're a PK. Sometimes moving is tough, or friends leave your church or you have to start at a new school. But through all that, God doesn't leave your side. He's walking beside you, got your back, and in front of you before you get there.

5) You're Doing Much Better Than You Think You Are! So relax, eat some ice cream, play a bit of that game you love. You're doing great!
